Herald 10 August 2014 By Lucia Lai In November 2013, Pope Francis issued his Apostolic Exhortation called Evangelii Gaudium (The Joy of the Gospel) which outlines the Pope’s vision for a missionary Church whose ‘doors should always be open’. The Penang Diocesan Pastoral Institute (PDPI) has embarked on a course to make Catholics better understand the document. The Herald 30 June 2014 Nestled within the busy Penang Road, flanked by many hotels and popular eating places, stands the Catholic Pastoral Centre (CPC), which was officially opened on 7 June 2014. The Catholic Pastoral Centre (CPC) housed the Penang Diocesan Pastoral Institute (PDPI), The Lighthouse (under POHD), La Salle Learning Centre, St Joseph’s Home and Catholic Information Centre. Within the compound of CPC is the St Francis Xavier Church, which had been in existence for over a century. Dormitories coming up… On the first floor, there will be dormitories for male. One dormitory will have four double decker beds and 4 bathrooms. On the first floor, there will also be the seminar room,  media room, the library, and a room for facilitators. On the second floor, there will be dormitories for female. DECEMBER 2013 PDPI building is now under extensive renovations.  It began on Monday, 16 Dec. and full completion is expected on March 2014. Dormitories on 1st and 2nd floor will be set up, with bathrooms.
